BU Plans Full Schedule of Events at Wiscon 26
Broad Universe's plans for the 2002 Wiscon, May 24 - 27, include a reading, a party and a general meeting.

We will also have an informational booth next to the book signing table where members' work will be available for viewing and our new Broad Universe buttons will be available. The Broad Universe Motherboard will also be meeting during Wiscon. The members of the Motherboard are Amy Axt Hanson, Heather Whipple, Alyx Dellamonica, Suzy McKee Charnas, Debbie Notkin and Diane Silver.

Rapid-Fire Reading and Sherry Hour

Broad Universe invites you to drink a little wine, eat a little cheese,and meet some of the members of Broad Universe. We'll start with a little socializing, and then several members of Broad Universe will read brief samples of their work, followed by more socializing (and possibly all heading off to dinner together). Currently scheduled to read are: Phoebe Wray, Lyda Morehouse, Winifred Halsey, Leah Cutter, Susan Harris, Nancy Jane Moore, Anne Sheldon, Susan Groppi, Melodie Bolt, and Mary Anne Mohanraj, moderator.

Advisory Board Changes
The Broad Universe advisory board now includes Melodie Bolt Barker, Suzy McKee Charnas, Alyx Dellamonica, Carole Nelson Douglas, Laura Anne Gilman, Jeanne Gomoll, Amy Axt Hanson, Laurie J. Marks, Mary Anne Mohanraj, Nancy Jane Moore, Pat Murphy, Debbie Notkin, Margaret Organ-Kean, Sarah Palmero, Laura Quilter, Diane Silver, and Heather Whipple.

Broad Universe Announces Members of Two Boards
The founding mothers of Broad Universe have announced a preliminary organization that includes an advisory board and a decision-making board of directors.

The advisory board includes Suzy McKee Charnas, A. M. Dellamonica, Carole Nelson Douglas, Amy Axt Hanson, Laurie J. Marks, Mary Anne Mohanraj, Pat Murphy, Debbie Notkin, Margaret Organ-Kean, Wendy Pearson, Laura Quilter, Kelly Robson, Diane Silver, and Heather Whipple.

"We are grateful to our advisory board of women whose experience in setting up ambitious nonprofits has helped steer our efforts, and whose opinions are those we value and trust," said Amy Axt Hanson.

Within that advisory group, a board of directors has been convened to make final decisions where necessary. The current board is A. M. Dellamonica, Amy Axt Hanson, Diane Silver, and Heather Whipple. The board serves at large, but their positions are expected to become more traditional (elected president, vice-president, etc.) as the organization evolves.

Broads In Public
Broad Universe will be part of the festivities at WisCon (May 25-28) – a fitting place for a big celebration, as this was where the ball got rolling last year. Look for a panel discussion: "Broad Universe: the New Movement," in Capitol A on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. A lively party will ensue on Sunday night in Room 629.

Elsewhere that same weekend (May 25-28), Broad Universe will take a turn hosting the HWA Hospitality Suite at World Horror Con. Come on by for bon bons and lively discussion. We'll be in Room 124 (time TBA).
