Broadsheet Evolution

Regular readers of The Broadsheet will notice changes for 2007 as the Broad Universe website upgrades and expands. The new BU News is updated nearly every week, so we've discontinued the Broadsheet Gossip section (although we'll all dearly miss Rob Gates' playful banter).

Another change is a matter of focus. The Broadsheet has been proud to carry the occasional interview with an author, as part of Create or Read: Elizabeth Moon, Spanish writer Nuria C. Botey, Tanith Lee, Susanna Clark, Louise Marley, Lyda Morehouse, Gwyneth Jones, and Jacqueline Carey. When we were offered the opportunity to publish Samuel R. Delany's telephone interview with Joanna Russ originally conducted at WisCon 30, it seemed fitting to launch a new section — Talk — to provide a special space for interviews.

Finally, the Teach section will be dropped, but there will be an expanded one-stop resource for teachers on the BU website, for those seeking to incorporate information on the influence of feminism on the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres, and who wish to include female authors on their required reading lists. We hope to have the new section of the site up by this summer. In the meantime, please visit the Teach Archive — it contains some memorable articles, including personal experiences in teaching, by writers Suzy McKee Charnas and Michael Arnzen.

We hope you like the changes. And while we're celebrating changes, we'd like to acknowledge those who worked on The Broadsheet previously and who have since moved on: Diane Silver (former editor), Victoria McManus, Rob Gates, and Sue Lange, whose final work on Sell appears in this issue.
