Broadsheet Writer's Guidelines

The Broadsheet accepts art, articles, interviews, book reviews and commentaries about any topic involving women writers and artists in science fiction, fantasy and horror. It also accepts general articles on the writing or marketing of sf/f/h. We  print only non-fiction. Anyone may submit, whether female or male, new writer or experienced pro. We do accept submissions from non-members.

Interviews should be between 3,000 and 5,000 words. Brief articles (2,000 words or fewer) are preferred for Create, Sell, Read and Think. However, excellent interviews and articles of shorter or longer lengths will also receive consideration.

Payment

  • Art and Interviews: $50
  • Create, Sell, Think, Tributes: $40
  • Read: $25 for the usual brief review; up to $40 for pieces that deliver something more.
  • Reprints: $15

Payment is upon publication. A brief biography of the contributor, including any link to the author's  or artist’s  website, will run with the piece if supplied with the copy. Articles and art appearing in past issues of the The Broadsheet are made available in our public archives unless the author or artist requests otherwise in writing. If submitting a query about art, please link to an online portfolio. Include in your query your name and contact information, publication credits if any and your areas of expertise. Please remember to include types of articles you are interested in writing. A positive response to a query from The Broadsheet does not guarantee that an article will be accepted. Simultaneous and multiple submissions are not accepted by The Broadsheet.
