• WHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR MEMBERSHIP?
  A strong, committed organization promoting and celebrating women writers of sf/f/h. On our way to world domination are Broadsheets and payments to authors who write for the Broadsheet, research on the state of the genre, information displays promoting BU authors, public readings, catalogs, resources to help you succeed and much more.
• HOW MUCH DO MEMBERSHIPS COST?
  We have two membership levels.

  Level One: For $30/year, you get access to all aspects of the organization, including participation in BU's group readings, listings in the book catalog, space on the information tables and in the advertisements, as well as access to BU's private PR database, Broadsheet archives, and any future members-only resources on our website. Also, only members may send messages to our email discussion list. (NOTE: Anyone can become a Level One member, but because of BU's mission, only women may participate in the BU catalog, group readings, BU book-launch parties and similar marketing efforts. The rest of the Level One benefits are accessible to all Level One members.)

  Level Two: For $15/year, you receive access to all non-marketing offerings from BU, including participation on the email list, access to the Broadsheet archives and any future members-only pages on the website.

• HOW LONG IS THE MEMBERSHIP TERM?
  Memberships last for one year, from June 1 through May 31, and are not pro-rated.

  BUT WHY DO I NEED TO FILL IN THE FORM?
  1. Our treasurer needs your payment to be linked with your information (especially needed for those who write under a different name).
  2. It insures your information (and website URL) is up-to-date.
  3. It gives you a chance to update your bio on the members page.
• I'M BROKE AND DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR A MEMBERSHIP. WHAT CAN I DO?
  Please let us know if you're in a bind. When possible, we will be offering subsidies for part or all of the membership fee to those suffering financial hardship.
• I'D LIKE TO DONATE TO HELP PEOPLE WITH FINANCIAL NEED JOIN BU. WHAT DO I DO?
  Please donate to our Angels Fund, which enables us to offer some subsidies. Any size gift will be appreciated. You can use PayPal or a credit card (via the member form at the top of the page) or send a check (made out to Broad Universe) to Broad Universe, c/o 1121 E. Vienna Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53212.
• IS THE MEMBERSHIP FEE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
  It is not deductible as a charitable contribution. The membership fee may qualify as a business expense; check with your accountant or tax preparer.
• WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T JOIN?
  You can still subscribe to and read (but not post to) our email discussion list, have access to the latest updates of the Broadsheet, to our online catalogs and to the public areas of our website. You will miss the chance, however, to add a few of your dollars to the promotion of women sf/f/h writers.
• MY BOOK IS ALREADY IN THE BU CATALOG, WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T BECOME A MEMBER?
  Books currently listed in the catalog have been grandmothered in. If you want to change an entry or list additional books, you will need to become a Level One member.
